ABOUT BOB
Bob was a friend, guitarist, and technical engineer for Siemens Corporation. Bob was loved by everyone who knew him. He projected keen spiritual understanding and demonstrated genuine selfless action. He was a beloved and dedicated son to his parents, especially when each of them was battling cancer. He was the treasured younger brother of Richard Whitman. He also was a loving brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, mentor who is sorely missed. Bob was diagnosed with Primary Metastatic Melanoma of the Esophagus (PMME) in May of 1999. He had surgery to remove his esophagus, had intensive chemotherapy, underwent gamma knife brain radiation, and died on November 12, 1999 at the age of 42. Bob Whitman’s life and early death inspired his family and friends to form BWRF, and we all feel he is smiling down on us as a result of this effort.
